whats up with those I Wouldnt Live In [insert latin country] Cuz Its Dangerous, Poor And Have Ugly Lifestyles But Im Proud Of My Roots uslatinxs
#’my parents wanted to give me a better life in a better place so they left’ #these comments always rub me in the wrong way #im sorry but some of us live here??? sorry we’re not california or florida (via @atrperro)
This. This is so important, because by saying these lies you’re just like all the gringos that paint latin america as a dangerous and hopeless place where none of your dreams will ever come true when the reality is miles away from that. Stop saying uwu latin america is sooo dangerous and this is the land of opportunities uwu because that’s wrong and also disrespectful to us, these are our countries and we love them.
My mom wouldn’t have been able to achieve ANYTHING in the US, she comes from a brown, single mom, poor household, my granny barely knew how to read, came at 15 alone in a ship running from war to an unknown country, but a least she had pensions, at least she didn’t have to pay for healthcare nor college for her kids, so my mom managed to study law and afterwards graduated as a psychologist. Like her case there are many more, so no, its not a hopeless place, its not worse than the US nor better, we’ve got issues as any country but oh well, we did suffer from centuries of being stolen from, invaded, intervened and destabilized, (still are) so I guess we haven’t been able to reach a Nordic country’s level of development (whom by the way have benefited from the colonies A LOT for example the Netherlands….), but newsflash, the US isn’t a first world country, its just rich not developed.
