The Mahamba is a cryptid believed to live in the Lake Likouala region of the Republic of the Congo. Described as a huge crocodile, some fifty feet in length, several reports exist of it attacking people, and even devouring rafts and canoes.
It has been suggested that the Mahamba could be a surviving prehistoric animal, such as the Deinosuchus from the Cretaceous period, or a type of mososaur. The native Bobangi people, however, claim that the Mahamba is like no creature that has ever walked upon the Earth.
