Brazilian fashion photographer Victor Vieira launches an editorial every November to praise black empowerment and beauty in Brazil. November is #NovembroNegro, or “Black November”, Brazil’s Black awareness and resistance month.
These images are from his 2018 editorial called IMPÉRIO(EMPIRE). It was released on November 20, Brazil’s Black Awareness Day (Portuguese: Dia da Consciência Negra).
Vieira states that “the goal with the EMPIRE editorial was very objective and characteristic. It was to show that everything that we have been through wasn’t able to erase our history.” (x)
