I’ve had a lot of comments on my videos
that there are only men, gangsters, criminals on the migrant caravan,
even terrorists, well, take a look,
please, and ask if you find these people threatening? This is what I am
seeing. I took these portraits in one small corner today.

Every woman I’ve spoken to here has a horror story. It doesn’t come out
immediately, but if I speak to them for half an hour, it emerges,
painfully. Kidnap, rape, even rape of their children. One woman wept as
she told me that ‘from the moment girls are born, men conspire to ruin
their lives’. That was the reason she was escaping Honduras. (She is not
in these photos).

All of these women have been walking for for
11 days in ferocious heat. Some have been carrying their children, or
pushing them in buggies.

All names withheld for security.

Are they criminals and gangsters?

Thanks to Whitney Godoy for her help setting this up this morning.

I am documenting the migrant caravan on behalf of the ACT Alliance and the The Lutheran World Federation who work on the causes of migration such as climate change, insecurity and poverty in Central America.
