I love people who talk about voting like it’s like punk rock bc voting is one of the least punk things you could do
Voting is pretty cool. And there is nothing wrong with civil engagement. Also punk is a genre of music and a fashion style.
Voting isn’t cool, it’s a political tactic, no more important than any other. In addition, punk is a subculture and lifestyle defined by defiance of authority and rejection of cultural and social standards. Engaging in the existing political system by voting isn’t rebellious or punkish. It’s as absurd to claim it is as to claim that conservatism is the new punk rock, as Paul Joseph Watson does.
What acts of rebellion and defiance are change on the political and social context. Not voting is not ~radical~ or ~revolutionary~ because thats exactly what those in power want you to do. Your post its just performative and shows an absolute lack of critical thinking as to what punk culture is and how it evolves, not to mention a sheer lack of empathy as to who not voting affects the most.
BE PUNK AND VOTE AGAINST THE STATUS QUO
